I have a question regarding ammo limits.
Are we using "real-cap" rules, i.e. mags loaded with 32 rounds for smg's, or can we use any mag loaded to the 200 limit?
No your allocation is 200 rds per life so eg MP 40 you could have 4 50rd mags or 2 hi cap with 100 rds in each.
It is the limit that is the real thing.
People with MP44`s which only have Hi caps should as I do put a few Bb`s into the mag so it winds then have a small container measured with 200 Bb`s which can be used to make the 200 Limit.
To Be honest I think low caps are better than mid or hi caps as you have a better idea how much ammo you have left.
Any more questions people ask away
Can I carry a sidearm?

Ralph

Ah, thank you Hans. Have no problem at all with the limit, just wondered about the hi caps, as some sites don't allow them for milsim's.
I particularly like the idea of some other games I attend, any magazine loaded to the real capacity of the real steel weapon, but you can use as many as you can carry.... However, I soon realised that I only actually used seven or eight mags in any one life....

Yes ammo comes out of you 200 limit

I like the idea of real steel mags etc but having bailed out Vietnam Games in the past by bringing 10 VC to fight 30 plus US so the game can actually take place and then being told we would rather not have you there with High caps we all voted with out feet. Their loss. The real problem with that is you need about 6 to 8 MP 40 mags to make it viable and that costs. Especially when you have introduced to sons to the hobby we would need 24 MP40 mags Some games say if you have a high cap you can only fire on single shot. I think that is OK either way. The games our group run you have no advantage either way its not a case of firing off a high cap running back to respawn and running back because that won`t happen. Certain missions don`t allow you to have more ammo until mission over! so its pointless squirting it all off running back so a chap with a boltaction can just walk upto the objective take without firing a shot. Although that does make it interesting.
Well, whatever goes Hans. You guys make the rules, and i'm just happy to play! I'm all for uneven sides, because lets face it, sometimes things aren't fair in War. Some of my best games have been where we have been outnumbered 3-1.... my local site will often run uneven sides, or 'unfair' scenarios. I like all that kind of thing, as it's a good challenge....
I'm just as happy for all things to be equal too of course.
I just like the realism of the 'real-cap' rules, and to be honest, I quite like carrying lots of mags....!!
I'm not the kind of player to keep running to and fro to reload, if I run out of ammo, i'll try to use pyro, try to draw fire from the rest of my team, turn to a medic role and try to get to downed players, or even go in for a bayonet kill!! I tend to stay in the game until i'm hit, as i may still be useful in some way.
Anyway, looking forward to the game either way.

No problems Rolf like I always say the events If people want to do real steel for the atmosphere of changing mags a lot please feel free.
just like kit some people will make extraordinary efforts to field the right look
Yes I know what you mean Gordon.(like acting like a drunken German U-boat captain drinking with the enemy)
Am I Wright?

Speedloader question: I now have a Garand but only one mag for it. Would it be ok to reload it in-battle with a speedloader? That process is considerably slower than simply swapping mags, so is no advantage, and also reduces the possibility of introducing debris into the rifle as a result of hand-feeding rounds into the mag with muddy hands.
TIA.
I currently use British high combats with gamaschen.....will this be ok ?
Siggi, I have a couple of garand mags in the lost property box left over from Nordwind. As no one has claimed them yet, I don't see any reason why you can't borrow them if it helps.
Thanks ZB, that would be great! It's a G&G model Garand though...
I don't know what they are but will put them in the kit bag anyway.

I thought you were coming as a MG team??? Is this not so now as I have other people who want to use a MG and you are currently taking the spot??

Was my MG-assistant to be unarmed?
The point is now moot however.
Quick one on MG assistants, what are the rules or do we only need him for shoulder firing? Mine WILL be carrying my ammo tins but I didn't know if there were specific rules + I'm assuming we can also switch our minion if need be ;P
